Job summary

Catholic Charities-Straight & Narrow Inc (SN) is seeking a Cook/Food Service staff for per diem positions across Paterson and surrounding locations. The role supports meal preparation, packaging, service and safe handling in compliance with established standards, ensuring timely delivery and courteous service.

Responsibilities include following menus, maintaining sanitation, coordinating with the Food Service Director, and supporting inventory control.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or 1 year of food service experience.
• Knowledge of large-scale food preparation and service.
• ServSafe certification within 30 days from date of hire.
• Must have a driver’s license valid in New Jersey with up to 5 points.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and serve meals according to established menus and recipes.
• Follow posted menus and obtain prior approval for deviations; communicate changes via email.
• Serve meals on time and in a courteous manner; deliver to designated locations.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and proper storage; ensure proper food temperatures.
• Notify the Food Service Director of any menu items unavailable and adjust as needed.
• Assist with inventory maintenance, rotation, and cost control; minimize waste.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely; perform routine cleaning and maintenance.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and safety protocols.
• Maintain professional communication with staff; no mobile devices during work hours.
• Ensure proper labeling, dating, and storage of foods; monitor inventory levels.
