Job summary

Cheshire Medical Center is seeking a Patient Transport technician to support intra-campus patient movement. This role covers days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays on a per diem basis, aligned with hospital transport needs.

Responsibilities include safe transport of patients and visitors, verification of patient bands, and operation of transport equipment. On-the-job training is provided; BLS within 90 days and CHT within 6 months are required or pursued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification within 90 days of hire and renewed bi-annually.
• CHT (Certified Healthcare Transporter) within 6 months of hire.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• On-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients and visitors safely within the campus in a courteous, timely manner.
• Verify patient name bands prior to each transport.
• Utilize equipment such as stretchers, wheelchairs, slide boards and transfer devices.
• Escort ambulatory patients and assist nursing with vented patient transport when requested.
• Maintain and clean stretchers, wheelchairs, IV poles and related supplies.
