Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Per Diem Clinical Care Technician (CCT) for the Emergency Department at RWJ Rahway. The role supports RNs with bedside care, vital signs, mobility, and daily living activities, delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.

You will work day shifts, 2+ shifts per month minimum with rotating holidays, and be part of a collaborative nursing team focused on safe patient outcomes and infection control. BLS certification required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• CNA certificate or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program required.
• Minimum of 2 shifts per month with rotating holiday requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily patient care including vital signs, mobility, and personal care.

You'll assist with daily needs such as vital signs, mobility, and personal care, while helping RNs monitor conditions and carry out care plans. As a Clinical Care Technician (CCT), a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS, performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient's care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this CCT opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Satisfactory completion of the Clinical Care Partner Skill Program or successful passing of the Clinical Care Partner Skills Challenge Examination on orientation. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is required or a CNA certificate. This position offers a minimum of 2 shifts per month with rotating holiday requirements.
