Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking a part-time Clinical Care Technician to support registered nurses in the Oncology Unit – MCC-9. You will assist with vital signs, daily living activities, and patient comfort while maintaining a safe and compassionate bedside presence.

This role requires a High School diploma or GED and current American Heart Association BLS certification; CNA experience or formal training is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and basic nursing care.
• Taking vital signs and performing basic bedside procedures.
• Documenting patient information in the EHR with confidentiality.
• Applying infection control protocols to keep the environment safe.
• Communicating with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care.
• Providing BLS support in emergency situations.
• Assisting with patient care tailored to age and safety.
• Ensuring safe patient outcomes through judgement and action.
• Collaborating with nursing staff from admission to discharge.

As a Clinical Care Technician (CCT), a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS, performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient’s care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this CCT opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a 3 shifts per week (36 hours a week) schedule from 7pm to 7:30p.m. and includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
