Job summary

Houston Baptist University is seeking a bus driver to provide transportation for university employees, students, and visitors, including special events and park-and-ride operations. You will monitor equipment and perform limited maintenance while delivering information and public affairs services.

Qualifications

  • Passenger and air brake endorsements required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience operating large passenger buses (40 foot or greater).
  • Experience working in a scheduled transportation system.
  • As a CDL driver, comply with DOT Regulation 49 CFR Parts 40 and 382 including random drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Drives a university-owned vehicle (bus, van, other passenger vehicles) providing safe and efficient transportation to the university community and its visitors.
  • Performs routine vehicle inspection and maintenance including checking the oil, fuel, brakes, lights, windshield wipers, and water and tire pressures.
  • Maintains records of work performed; makes timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences.
  • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and overnight assignments.
  • Provides information and other general assistance to the university community and its visitors.
