Job summary

St. Joseph’s Health in Paterson, NJ seeks a Patient Care Associate/Technician to assist patients with daily living activities and provide basic care for acutely ill individuals.

The role supports a safe, clean environment and may include EKGs and venipuncture as directed by a registered nurse. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification within 6 months, and a PCA/PCT diploma or enrollment in nursing school with related coursework; relevant healthcare

• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• PCA/PCT diploma with 6 months to 1 year of healthcare experience OR enrollment in nursing school with Nursing Fundamentals coursework OR completion in Nursing Fundamentals coursework OR Nursing Assistant training completion.
• PCA/PCT, Home Health Aide or CMA experience

Job description

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support certification within 6 months of hire
• PCA/PCT (Patient Care Associate/Patient Care Technician) diploma with 6 months to 1 year of previous work experience within the last 6 months in an healthcare setting OR
• Enrolled in an accredited nursing school program and has completed Nursing Fundamentals level 1 coursework in lieu of PCA/PCT diploma/certification OR
• Provides evidence of completion in Nursing Fundamental level coursework OR Evidence of Completion in of a Nursing Assistant training program OR
• PCA/PCT, Home Health Aide or CMA experience

Effective January 2019, St. Joseph’s Health requires certifications for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to be granted through the American Heart Association
