Job summary

St. Joseph’s Health in Paterson, NJ, is seeking a Patient Care Assistant/Technician to support patients with activities of daily living and provide basic nursing care under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, clean environment and performing EKGs and venipuncture as directed by the Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• PCA/PCT diploma with 6 months to 1 year of healthcare experience in the last 6 months.
• CNA certification or PCA/PCT certification.
• EMT certification.
• Enrolled in accredited nursing school with Nursing Fundamentals level 1 coursework in lieu of PCA/PCT diploma/certification.
• Evidence of Nursing Fundamentals coursework or Nursing Assistant training completion.
• PCA/PCT, Home Health Aide or CMA experience.

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification OR PCA/PCT certification OR
• EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) certification OR
• Enrolled in an accredited nursing school program and has completed Nursing Fundamentals level 1 coursework in lieu of PCA/PCT diploma/certification OR
• Provides evidence of completion in Nursing Fundamental level coursework OR Evidence of Completion in of a Nursing Assistant training program OR
• PCA/PCT, Home Health Aide or CMA experience

Effective January 2019, St. Joseph’s Health requires certifications for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to be granted through the American Heart Association
