Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or Special Education.
• Valid teaching certification/licence in Physical Education or Special Education.
• Adapted Physical Education (Cl-623) Added Authorization.
• Minimum 1 year of experience.
• Knowledge of adaptive physical education principles, techniques, and strategies.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equity in physical education.
• Physical requirements: ability to participate in activities and demonstrate proper techniques.

Responsibilities

• Program Development: Develop and implement individualized adaptive physical education programs for students with disabilities based on their needs, abilities, and goals.
• Instruction: Provide engaging and inclusive physical education instruction that accommodates diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Assessment: Conduct ongoing assessments to evaluate students' progress and adjust instructional strategies.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, therapists, and other professionals to support holistic development.
• Inclusion: Promote inclusivity and create a welcoming environment where all students participate.
• Adaptations: Modify equipment, rules, and activities for accessibility and safety.
• Communication: Maintain open communication with students, parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
• Professional Development: Stay informed about best practices and trends in adaptive PE.
