Ocean View Psychiatric Health Facility in Long Beach, CA seeks a Social Worker to provide psychosocial assessments, therapy, and discharge planning in an acute behavioral health unit. Working under supervision, you will collaborate with the Director of Social Services and treatment teams.

The role emphasizes crisis intervention, documentation in the EHR, and coordination with external agencies. Inpatient duties may extend to outpatient services; strong clinical judgment, empathy, and teamwork

Formación

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of two (2) years of direct service experience in acute behavioral health within an inpatient hospital setting.
• Knowledge of psychiatric and medical terminology, psychopharmacology, and behavioral health treatment principles.
• Ability to assess mental status and psychosocial needs of adult psychiatric patients through observation and interaction.
• CPR, BLS, and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Demonstrated ability to work calmly in high-stress or crisis situations.
• Fluent English—verbal and written communication.
• Proficiency with computers and electronic documentation; experience with EHRs.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment goals with the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide individual and group therapy using evidence-based approaches tailored to patient needs.
• Coordinate discharge planning, linking to outpatient services, housing, and community supports.
• Facilitate crisis interventions and provide clinical support during psychiatric emergencies.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies (APS, County Behavioral Health) to support care coordination.
• Participate in treatment planning meetings and ensure timely EHR documentation.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and discharge activities.
• Adhere to facility policies and regulatory standards; assist with IO/PHP as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Social Services or leadership.
• Demonstrate understanding and compliance with Patients’ Rights, LPS Statutes, and Seclusion/Restraint Protocols.
