Job description

We're seeking a People Operations Associate (Payroll & Benefits) to join our Human Resources team, playing a vital role in delivering an exceptional employee experience across our locations. The role involves providing HR support such as benefits administration, payroll support, and employee engagement initiatives. This is a full-time position based at our New York City headquarters, reporting to the Senior Manager of People Operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the first point of contact for HR questions, offering guidance on policies and procedures
  • Supporting benefits administration, including enrollments, issue resolution with carriers/brokers, invoice reconciliation, and open enrollment support
  • Assisting with payroll processing, ensuring timesheet accuracy, managing pay adjustments in HRIS, and reviewing payroll reports
  • Supporting leave programs by gathering employee info, preparing documentation for FMLA/disability/other leaves, and maintaining leave records
  • Preparing HR documentation such as promotion/transfer letters, employment verifications, I-9s, and Workers' Compensation reports
  • Contributing to compensation projects by generating and maintaining reports
  • Providing HRIS support, including report generation and analysis
  • Supporting onboarding for new hires at our NYC headquarters
  • Participating in HR initiatives to improve processes and employee experience
  • Offering additional HR administrative support as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years in an HR role with benefits administration experience
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems
  • Knowledge of FMLA and leave programs
  • Proficiency in Excel, including handling large data sets and pivot tables
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving mindset and passion for process improvement
  • Ability to work in-person in NYC at least 3 days a week

Preferred:

  • Over 3 years in HR with benefits focus
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification

The annual salary ranges from $80,000 to $90,000, based on experience and education. Persistent Systems offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, paid time off, FSA, 401(k) with match, and other perks.
