Position SummaryPennwood Cyber Charter School is seeking a dynamic and solutions-oriented leader to serve as the Assistant Manager of Counseling. This role supports the K–12 school counseling program by coordinating curriculum implementation, individual student planning, responsive services, and year-round counseling operations.
The Assistant Manager leverages the Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) to promote student academic success, college and career readiness, and social-emotional development. This position is remote, with occasional in-person responsibilities in conjunction with the York area office.
Key Responsibilities Student Counseling & Support- Maintain a limited caseload of high school students and support their academic, career, and social-emotional development.
- Assist with student placement, onboarding, and targeted intervention for all students.
- Collaborate with counselors and families to reduce withdrawals and promote consistent student engagement, participation, and performance.
Program & Curriculum Development- Support the continuous development of a comprehensive K–12 counseling program aligned with ASCA standards.
- Oversee enhancements to K–12 counseling programs to support academic, behavioral, emotional, and social development.
Leadership & Team Oversight- Supervise school counseling staff members
- Provide mentorship and professional support to school counselors.
- Lead school-wide crisis prevention, response efforts, and social-emotional development initiatives.
Data, Records & Compliance- Ensure compliance with Section 504 regulations and Pennsylvania’s Act 158 graduation requirements.
- Manage course selection, transcript evaluations, and accurate student recordkeeping.
- Use data analysis to inform counseling strategies and support continuous improvement.
College & Career Readiness- Promote access to post-secondary opportunities through events and counselor support.
- Guide students and families through the college application and scholarship process.
- Contribute to graduation planning and ceremonies.
Operational Support- Assist with standardized assessments such as the PSSA and Keystone Exams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in School Counseling
- Minimum 5 years of school counseling experience (preferably in a secondary setting)
- Supervision experience preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong leadership skills and a collaborative mindset
- Technologically proficient (especially in Microsoft Office)
- Highly adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced virtual environment
Preferred Qualifications- 3+ years of experience in a virtual school setting
- Background in counseling leadership or program coordination
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania graduation and assessment requirements
Additional Requirements- Ability to travel across Pennsylvania, including overnight stays for state testing and in-person events
- Access to reliable transportation for in-person events
- Availability for occasional evening hours to support families
