In this position, you will acquire the necessary skills and experience to operate highway construction and maintenance equipment while also engaging in various manual labor tasks as part of a highway or bridge maintenance team.
You will undergo training to obtain the required licenses and certifications for operating equipment such as Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) and loaders with a bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less. It will be crucial to perform and document pre- and post-operation checks, as well as make field adjustments to ensure safe operation and reduce equipment wear. When not operating machinery, you will assist with a range of manual labor duties, utilizing both motorized and non-motorized hand tools, including shovels, rakes, hammers, chain saws, compressors, and patching machines.
