sms seeks a diligent janitorial worker to keep commercial and institutional buildings clean and orderly. You will assist with scheduling, handle administrative duties, and perform cleaning across rooms, lobbies, restrooms, and other areas.

Responsibilities include operating cleaning equipment, moving furniture, lifting up to 50 pounds, and following safety guidelines. Prior janitorial experience preferred; basic computer skills are a plus.

• Keep premises clean and orderly across rooms, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, and other areas
• Assist Facility Manager with scheduling and administrative duties
• Operate burnishers, scrubbers, pressure washers, and other cleaning equipment
• Move and lift furniture and equipment as needed (up to 50 pounds)
• Clean windows, door panels, and sills
• Maintain work areas with attention to safety and cleanliness

Summary:

Keeps premises of commercial and institutional buildings in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assist Facility Manger with scheduling


• Assist with administrative duties


• Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.


• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.


• Lifting chairs and place them over tables (approx. chair weight: 20-25 lbs.)


• Moving chemicals (5 gal buckets -- approx. weight 40+ lbs.)


• Moving tables (approx. weight 40+ lbs.)


• Operates different types of equipment (i.e. burnishers, scrubbers, pressure washer)


• Uses ManLift or ScissorLift Machine


• Washes windows, door panels, and sills

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Prior experience in janitorial housekeeping preferred

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Computer Skills:

Basic computer skills desired but not required.

Certificates and Licenses:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervision of shift responsibility, handling employee issues
