Gathr Outdoors in Florence, WI is seeking a Pencil Operator for the 1st shift. You will operate pencil equipment to fulfill customer orders and record production in our database, while maintaining safety and quality on a busy production floor.

Responsibilities

  • Operate pencil equipment to meet customer demand and production goals. Goals per 8-hour shift: hex without = 360 printed, 800 plain; hex with = 320 printed, 704 plain; all round = 240 printed, 528 plain.
  • Properly record production/order fulfillment in our operating database.
  • Communicate with supervisors and maintenance personnel to maintain equipment efficiencies.
  • Uphold established quality standards for printed products.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Work safely upholding our company PPE and Safety requirements (Ex. Safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes where needed, gloves, labeling secondary containers, etc....) Report safety concerns to management, including any guarding that has become compromised.

About The Position

The fundamental reason this position exists is to perform functions necessary to operate pencil equipment to fulfill customer orders. This position could operate pencil machines for printed pencils or plain pencils as needed per customer orders. This position may also shift into other positions as needed according to customer demand by resource.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • Able to distinguish colors as shown in a Pantone Color Match Guide
  • Ability to effectively manage time and resources in an organized manner
  • Ability to read and understand requirements for customer workorders
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Good attendance and punctuality
  • Must be able to communicate effectively

Work Environment
  • Works on the production floor area. The noise level is usually high and will require PPE (safety glasses and hearing protection) in all zones.
  • Works in high temperature areas at different times of the year
  • Works on cement floors with safety padding
  • Moving parts on machinery

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with team members, candidates and external partners through multiple forms of technology with telephone and computer. Must be able to receive and convey information.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, copier/printer etc. as well as could remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to safely navigate the production facility, OSHA compliant. Normally this person is standing or walking around the facility interacting with team members. Appropriate shoes for standing on concrete flooring is recommended.
