Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a hands-on Pega developer to design, build, and maintain healthcare-focused applications leveraging the Pega platform and the Smart Claims Engine framework.

You will work in an Agile/SAFe environment, collaborate with distributed teams, and support SIT/UAT, with a remote role available to candidates in the Eastern Time Zone.

Applicants should have 5+ years of Pega experience, familiarity with EDI 835/837, and a strong grasp of HIPAA data models.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on Pega Platform development experience.
  • Strong experience with Pega Automated Testing, Pega Unit Testing Framework (PUTF), test automation, and QA best practices.
  • Expertise in Facets modules including Claims, Membership, Billing, and Provider with healthcare payer operations knowledge.
  • Experience with healthcare claims processing and EDI transactions, including EDI 835 and EDI 837.
  • Proven experience supporting SIT, UAT, and regression testing, including defect analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of Pega Reporting and Mobility in enterprise environments, plus testing methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Pega applications following best practices and performance optimization.
  • Implement Pega class structures, workflows, UI models, integrations, and reusable assets for scalable healthcare solutions.
  • Support healthcare claims processing and provider operations within Facets modules.
  • Troubleshoot defects, perform root cause analysis, and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Collaborate in Agile/SAFe environments and with distributed/onshore teams; participate in ceremonies.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and adapt quickly to new technologies in a hybrid work setting.

Job description

About the Role

Hands-on Pega developer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining high-quality Pega applications. Hands-on experience with the Pega Smart Claims Engine framework, along with working knowledge of technical architecture, integration patterns, and data models aligned with healthcare industry standards (HIPAA, EDI, 835, 837).

In this role, you will:
  • Strong experience developing, configuring, unit testing, and optimizing Pega applications and components, following Pega best practices, design patterns, coding standards, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Expertise in implementing Pega class structures, workflow/process flows, UI models, integrations, and reusable assets to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing healthcare solutions.
  • Healthcare domain experience is required, with knowledge of healthcare operations; healthcare claims processing experience is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot defects, perform root cause analysis, and solve complex technical problems using strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Experience working in Agile/SAFe environments, participating in sprint ceremonies, code reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with distributed/onshore teams.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, contribute innovative ideas, and work effectively in a hybrid environment.

What You Need to Have to Be Considered
  • 5+ years of hands-on Pega Platform (PRPC) development experience, including application design, configuration, testing, and deployment.
  • Strong experience with Pega Automated Testing, Pega Unit Testing Framework (PUTF), test automation, and software quality assurance best practices.
  • Expertise in Facets modules including Claims, Membership, Billing, and Provider, with a solid understanding of healthcare payer operations.
  • Experience with healthcare claims processing and EDI transactions, including EDI 835 and EDI 837, supporting end-to-end claims lifecycle management.
  • Proven experience supporting System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and regression testing, including defect analysis and resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of Pega Reporting, Pega Mobility/Mobile Solutions, integrations, troubleshooting, and automated testing methodologies in enterprise environments.

The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $140,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. This position also qualifies for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, contingent on performance and applicable plan terms.
