Work Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend hours. Approximately 8 hours per week.
Eastern Shore Community College is a member of the Virginia Community College System. The College serves the residents of Accomack County and Northampton County as a two-year institution of higher learning. Operating under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Eastern Shore Community College Board, the college is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the two counties and the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation.
Provide individual tutoring in specified discipline for which hired and integrate study and learning strategies to promote independent learning.
Tutor students in specified discipline and encourage students to develop a systemic approach to studying that will serve them in many courses.
Participate in professional development offerings.
Meet with Academic Skills Advisor to plan appropriate academic support for students.
Refer students to appropriate campus resources as needed.
Keep and maintain regular and accurate records of tutoring sessions using the appropriate forms.
Reach out to students in the program and encourage them to come in for academic support.
Perform other duties consistent with the position of Peer Tutor.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
