Job summary

Baltic Street Wellness Solutions in New York City seeks a Supported Education Counselor to deliver Wellness & Recovery Supported Education services to young adults and older adults, helping them pursue educational goals identified by recipients. Services are provided in a blended model of on-site, mobile community-based, and remote telehealth support.

Applicants should have experience in mental health or educational settings; two years of relevant work is preferred.

Qualifications

Experience in Employment or Education Counseling with adults in behavioral health settings.
Specialized skills in Educational Development and assessment.
Ability to independently decide impact on education outcomes for participants.
Proficient computer skills including MS Office suite.
Experience as a Peer Advocate or related field.

Responsibilities

Assist individuals by developing education/readiness plans with measurable outcomes.
Contact schools and resources to build networks and supports.
Serve as liaison between individuals, schools, and community agencies; develop resources and internships.
Perform client-centered tasks including intake, data collection, records, and progress notes.
Maintain client records in a timely, organized manner according to policies.
Facilitate school readiness workshops and counseling for admissions and financial aid.
Lead group meetings and trainings, sharing recovery experiences where appropriate.
Conduct orientation and intake interviews; present case summaries.
Assist with assessment, advocacy, and follow-up services.
Provide guidance to establish vocational and educational goals and administer related assessments.
