Job summary

Resources for Human Development in Glassport, PA is seeking a dedicated Peer Specialist to support clients with mental health and/or substance use conditions using lived experience to promote recovery and empowerment.

You will join an interdisciplinary team, provide advocacy, help develop coping skills and recovery plans, and assist in connecting individuals with housing, employment, and community resources.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Experience working with underserved populations preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals with mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders required.
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions.
• Use lived experience to support individuals in their recovery journey.
• Assist clients with developing coping skills and wellness strategies.
• Support individuals in achieving personal goals (housing, employment, community integration).
• Assist in developing and implementing person-centered treatment plans.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Provide advocacy and support for individuals receiving services.
• Assist clients in preparing for recovery plan meetings and expressing their needs.
