Job summary

Community Concepts, Inc. is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to assist Care Coordinators and team members in developing daily living opportunities for adults with chronic and persistent mental illness and/or substance use. This per diem role is based out of the Rumford Office and serves Oxford County, with up to 15 hours per week, including some evenings and weekend coverage.

Starting rate is $16.00/hr. The position supports peers and families, offers flexible scheduling and paid training

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Ability to obtain CIPSS within 6 months of hire.
• One year of paid or unpaid peer support experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license and travel within the service area required.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing support, care, and conversation to peers and family members when appropriate.
• Assist peers and staff with daily activities and duties.
• Participate in planning and problem-solving to assist peers in achieving goals identified in their treatment plan.
• Participate in skill-building opportunities in community living.

Job description

What is a**Peer Support Specialist**? This position assists our Care Coordinators and other team members in developing daily living opportunities for adult peers with chronic and persistent mental illness and/or substance use. The Peer Support Specialist applies the tools developed in their own recovery as well as the philosophy and values of Intentional Peer Support to collaborate, coach, and build relationships with peers. This position is based out of the Rumford Office, with a service area of Oxford County, is per diem (no guarantee of hours and up to 15 hours per week), and schedule must meet the needs of the peers in the community, including some evenings, occasional weekend coverage, and meeting clients in non-traditional locations.

Starting Rate:**$16.00/hr

• Essential Duties**:
• Ability to obtain Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist within 6 months of hire
• Provides ongoing support, care, and conversation to peers and family members when appropriate.
• Assist peers and staff with daily activities and duties.
• Participate in planning and problem-solving to assist peers in achieving goals identified in their treatment plan.
• Along with staff and peers, participate in skill-building opportunities in community living.

Desired Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist with State of Maine Certification
• One year of paid or unpaid peer support experience preferred
• Other Requirements:**Ability to obtain and maintain the Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist Training Program (CIPSS);
