Job summary

National Church Residences is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to deliver recovery-oriented peer support within Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) programs. This position emphasizes lived experience with mental health, substance use, or homelessness to promote hope, recovery, and housing stability.

You will work with residents to develop individualized plans, facilitate groups, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support recovery goals and community integration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Current Ohio Certified Peer Recovery Supporter certification, or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
• Associate’s degree in Human Services, Behavioral Health, Social Work, or related field preferred.
• Lived experience with mental health recovery, substance use recovery, homelessness, or similar qualifies the candidate for peer support work.
• Experience providing peer support, mentoring, advocacy, or recovery services is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and group peer support to promote recovery, housing stability, wellness, and community integration.
• Collaborate with Case Managers and Community Engagement Manager to develop and support individual recovery goals and service plans.
• Assist residents in identifying personal strengths and establishing recovery, wellness, employment, and independent living goals.
• Utilize recovery tools (WHAM, WRAP) to develop individualized wellness and recovery plans.
• Document encounters and maintain accurate program data in accordance with regulatory requirements.
