Job summary

Plymouth Housing is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide direct support to residents, assist with benefit linkages, and connect residents to recovery resources in alignment with our values. The role emphasizes trauma-informed, person-centered care and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team across housing and health services.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent and two years of related program experience or equivalent combination of education, experience, and lived experience.
  • Peer Certification must be initiated within 18 months of hire, per state and org standards.
  • Experience in social services, supportive housing, mental/behavioral health, or related fields; education and lived experience may substitute.
  • Administrative and/or program experience in homelessness, behavioral health, or social services systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and group peer support to residents, including facilitating peer groups and resident-focused activities.
  • Meet with residents to support goals and recovery, wellbeing, and housing stability.
  • Attend appointments with residents and connect them to benefits and resources.
  • Engage residents with trauma-informed, person-centered, recovery-oriented care.
  • Build trusting relationships grounded in respect and professional boundaries.
  • Collaborate with care team to coordinate integrated services.
  • Develop relationships with community organizations to access mental health, medical, substance use, and social services.
  • Assist residents in navigating complex service systems and documentation.
  • Participate in care team meetings and care planning.
  • Collect and manage data with timely documentation; maintain confidentiality.
  • Attend trainings and supervision to grow peer support skills.
  • Seek feedback from supervisors, colleagues, and residents for program improvement.
