Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for over 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to contribute to a continuum of care. The agency is trauma‑informed for both patients and staff.

We are currently seeking a Per Diem Peer Support Specialist to support others in recovery from mental illness and/or substance use disorders. The role includes serving as a model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to help prevent relapse and promote long‑term recovery.

Hours

Normal business days between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Essential Duties
  • Provide recovery education to individuals throughout the recovery journey.
  • Model recovery possibility for people in recovery, family members, supporters, and staff.
  • Assist individuals in identifying personal interests, goals, strengths, weaknesses, and in developing treatment plans.
  • Help individuals develop plans for advancing recovery and improving functioning in home, community, workplace, or school.
  • Administer NOMs at engagement, 6 months, and one year after starting the program.
  • Identify and support linkages to community resources and organizations that align with the individual’s goals.
  • Link individuals to appropriate professional resources and explain benefits.
  • Maintain professional approach and clear boundaries between self, staff, and peers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate electronic/written documentation as required.
  • Monitor and update client safety plans, including early signs questionnaire.
Requirements
  • Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use disorder.
  • Working knowledge of the recovery process and ability to facilitate recovery using standardized mental health processes.
  • Ability to assist individuals in addressing symptoms with positive self‑talk and related techniques.
  • Knowledge of establishing and sustaining self‑help (mutual support) and educational groups.
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
  • Qualification or certification as an Ohio Certified Peer Recovery Supporter.
