Lifeline Community Services, a North County agency, is hiring a Peer Support Specialist (Bilingual) to support adolescents in the True Life Recovery Program. You will join a multidisciplinary outpatient team, collaborating with SUD counselors and therapists to help youth engage in recovery services and succeed in their goals.

  • Completes progress notes in SanWITS within defined timelines and participates in QA.

True Life Recovery Program
Position Summary

Lifeline Community Services is hiring a Peer Support Specialist to support our growing team. We are looking to hire a dynamic and passionate Clinician who is client centered, community focused and is a self-starter. To qualify to be a Peer Support Specialist, you must have received treatment for a Substance Use Disorder when you were a child or teenager between the ages of 12 and 17. The Youth Partner uses this lived experience to help adolescents and teens engage and succeed in our program's recovery services. The Peer Support Specialist helps our youth identify their goals and barriers to success, and find their voice in the treatment process.

The position is part of a multi-disciplinary team in an outpatient (school and clinic) setting, working closely with Substance Use Counselors and Therapists to support youth in recovery. Specific Responsibilities
  • Helps teens and adolescents ages 12-17 understand how recovery services work, and works with them to identify needs and overcome obstacles preventing effective participation in services.
  • Helps youth identify and access informal support people and involve them in the treatment plan.
  • Provides information to youth about health, wellness and recovery, and helps them practice these skills.
  • Works closely with SUD Counselors and Therapists to ensure that services are client-driven.
  • Helps youth feel supported throughout the recovery process by aiding in self-advocacy and assisting them in finding their voice in the treatment process.
  • Provides case management services. Connects youth and families to appropriate resources linkages in the community.
  • Participates in peer support training program.
  • Completes progress notes in SanWITS within defined timelines, and participates in program's Quality Assurance process.
  • Performs outreach activities within the schools and community as designated in county contract.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Personal experience in SUD recovery services between the ages of 12 and 17 is required. Bilingual in English/Spanish, required
  • Two (2) years community-based social service or case management experience. Knowledge of North County resources desired.
  • SanWITS experience preferred, but not required.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written skills; work well autonomously and with multiple people/disciplines.
  • Must possess the ability to make sound decisions independently.
  • Must be computer literate.
Additional Requirement
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with a good driving record.
  • Willing to use own, properly insured, reliable vehicle for the job (mileage reimbursed).
  • Employment subject to clearances, including background finger printing checks, driving record, tuberculosis testing, and drug testing.
Schedule/Compensation
  • Full-time, non-exempt
  • Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day, on-site
  • $22-$24 per hour, will commensurate with experience and education. Differential pay offered for bilingual skills. EEO.
