Job summary

The Guidance Center in Michigan is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program. You will deliver peer support, promote recovery, and help clients access resources and community opportunities.

Responsibilities include outreach in home and community settings, collaboration with ACT teams, and facilitating recovery-oriented activities. Training and supervision are provided. Salary is market-based with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience as a recipient of community mental health services and willingness to share recovery stories.
• Willingness to participate in training and supervision to improve effectiveness.
• Nonjudgmental approach with cultural sensitivity to diverse needs.
• Ability to engage ACT consumers in home and community settings.
• Ability to establish relationships with consumers and assist access to resources.
• Willingness to participate in training on co-occurring disorders, high-risk behaviors, recovery, safety.
• Ability to facilitate workshops and recovery-oriented activities for consumers and families.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with the public.
• Organize work and meet deadlines; valid Chauffeurs' license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Delivering peer support services, consistent with Medicaid guidelines, to individual consumers or groups.
• Promote and model recovery and assist consumers in developing skills to access community resources, live independently, improve health and wellness, continue education, and pursue opportunities for meaningful work in their community.
• Work hours 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, includes some evenings and weekends for events.
