Job summary

Parkview Health in Fort Wayne seeks a trained peer support specialist to assist individuals in recovery from mental health conditions or substance-use disorders. You will connect clients to resources, facilitate home visits, and provide education in community settings.

The role requires a high school diploma, Indiana driver’s license with insurance, and CPR within 30 days of hire, plus certification in peer support within six months for specified departments. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support for individuals in recovery and connect them to resources.

• Lead individual and group teaching, home visiting, advocacy, and motivational interviewing.
• Travel within the community as needed to meet clients and attend outreach events.

Must have reliable transportation as they may need to travel during the work day. Demonstrates expertise in the community of residence and is a trusted member of the community. Must be able to engage the diverse learners. Demonstrates skills in individual and group teaching, home visiting, advocating and motivational interviewing. Demonstrates a high degree of humility and respect for the cultural diversity within each community. Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
