Job summary

First Step House in Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking a full-time Peer Support Specialist Manager to provide direct support to residential patients and coordinate wellness planning.

You will collaborate with treatment teams and recovery staff to uphold high-quality client care, assist with on-call support, and help improve client retention in the residential program.

Qualifications

  • Must be Peer Support Certified.
  • Industry experience within substance abuse preferred.
  • Strong understanding of personal and professional boundaries is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (listening, verbal, written).
  • Experience in substance abuse and mental health treatment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Client Advocate staff in managing the milieu during evening hours, including behavior management and on-call support.
  • Support clinical staff with core modalities used in FSH programming (REBT, MRT, MI).
  • Communicate treatment needs to clinical and case management teams.
  • Monitor each client\'s program adherence, drug-test results, and group attendance; address issues.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, treatment teams and community partners on clinical issues.

We are hiring a full time Peer Support Specialist Manager in Salt Lake City, Utah!!

The Peer Support Specialist Manager provides a variety of targeted services with residential patients, all within the scope of their job. These services range from general support to developing Wellness Recovery Action Plans. The Peer Support Specialist Manager is responsible for providing the highest quality possible care to every client served. This role can be complex as support staff must navigate between varying interests. For example, while client advocacy and rapport must be priorities, consideration must be given to the treatment implications of interventions prescribed by clinical staff. This role requires strong collaborative skills, as Peer Support Specialist Manager works with various teams, including treatment teams and recovery support staff. The Peer Support Specialist Manager assists the Director of Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services and Residential Program Managers in providing the highest quality care to all program participants. The overall goals of this position are to (a) provide high-quality care for clients, (b) provide a high level of customer service for funders, clients, and other stake holders, (c) provide support for the clinical and client advocate staff, and (d) work to increase client retention in the residential setting.

  • Pay Range: $49,000 - $53,000

Requirements:

  • Must be Peer Support Certified
  • Industry experience within substance abuse preferred.
  • An exceptional understand of personal and professional boundaries is required for this position.
  • Must have the ability to work accurately and efficiently with high attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills (i.e., listening, verbal, and written skills).
  • Must possess excellent problem solving and decision making skills.

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or Associates Degree and an active license in the State of Utah as a certified peer support specialist, is preferred.
  • Education in the Utah State Peer Support Specialist is highly preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in both substance abuse and mental health treatment field is preferred.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Assists Client Advocate staff in managing the milieu during evening hours, including behavior management, client de-escalation, on-call support, and assistance in emergency medical situations.
  • Provides support to clinical staff, in being familiar with the core modalities (REBT, MRT, and MI) that are used in FSH programming.
  • Communicates treatment needs, as possibly identified during regular wellness recovery planning sessions, to the clinical and case management teams.
  • Assists in monitoring each client's program adherence, drug-test results, and group attendance and addresses problems as they arise.
  • Utilizes other software programs as needed(e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Maintains organizational expectations for clinical productivity.
  • Attends all relevant employee training classes and clinical staff meetings.
  • Collaborates and consults with supervisors, treatment-team members, community partners, and other relevant parties concerning clinical issues.
