Job summary

Wasatch Behavioral Health is seeking a Full-Time Peer Support Specialist for the Aspire Program in Orem, UT. You will use lived experience to support young women ages 12-18, fostering resilience and personal growth.

Schedule: Tue–Sat, 12:00 PM–8:00 PM or 1:00 PM–9:00 PM; compensation: $17.50–$23.31/hour DOE and certifications. Benefits include retirement, health, vision, HSA/FSA, life and disability insurance, paid holidays, PTO, and annual increases.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year post–high school education or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Lived experience in recovery or close relation to someone with behavioral health.
  • Spanish speakers may qualify for increased wages after testing.

Responsibilities

  • Build supportive, trusting relationships with young women in the Aspire Program.
  • Share personal recovery experiences in a thoughtful, professional way.
  • Encourage and coach youth in developing healthy coping skills and goals.
  • Provide one-on-one peer support during challenging moments.
  • Facilitate conversations and activities promoting emotional wellness and self-esteem.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and team members to support each individual's recovery.
  • Model positive communication, problem-solving, and recovery-focused behaviors.
  • Document services and interactions according to agency standards.
  • Create a welcoming, supportive environment where every youth feels seen and valued.
  • Help youth recognize strengths and build confidence for success during and after treatment.

Job description

Join Wasatch Behavioral Health as a Full-Time Peer Support Specialist and earn $17.50-$23.31/hour while making a meaningful difference in the lives of young women ages 12-18. In our Aspire Program, you'll work directly with youth at our Orem facility, using your lived experience and recovery journey to provide encouragement, connection, and hope. You'll help teens develop coping skills, navigate challenges, and build confidence as they work toward healing and personal growth. What You'll Do as a Peer Support Specialist
  • Build supportive, trusting relationships with young women receiving services in the Aspire Program.

  • Collaborate with clinicians and other team members to support each client's treatment and recovery journey.
  • Model positive communication, problem-solving, and recovery-focused behaviors.
  • Document services and interactions according to agency standards.
  • Create a welcoming, supportive environment where every young person feels seen, heard, and valued.
  • Help youth recognize their strengths and build confidence in their ability to succeed both during and after treatment.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet ONE of the following options:

Option 1:

  • One year of post–high school education in social work, psychology, or a related field
  • One year of general work experience OR an equivalent mix of related education and experience

Option 2:

  • Self-identified lived experience in one of the following areas:
    • An individual in recovery from a mental health and/or substance use disorder
    • A parent of a child with a behavioral health disorder
    • An adult with an ongoing supportive relationship with someone experiencing a behavioral health disorder

Additional Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of Peer Support Training through Utah DSAMH (preferred, not required)
  • Ability to problem-solve and maintain a client-centered approach
  • Spanish speakers may qualify for increased wages after testing

Employment at Wasatch Behavioral Health is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen, motor vehicle record review and criminal background check. After hire you must complete and receive a Criminal Background Clearance (BCI) from Utah State Office of Licensing. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment in the position, you must provide an official copy of licensure or certification.
