Job summary

Wasatch Behavioral Health is seeking a Full-Time Peer Support Specialist for the Aspire Program at our Orem facility to support young women ages 12-18. You’ll use your lived experience to provide encouragement, connection, and hope as teens develop coping skills and confidence on their healing journey.

Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 12:00 PM–8:00 PM and/or 1:00 PM–9:00 PM. Compensation ranges from $17.50 to $23.31 per hour based on DOE and certifications.

Qualifications

  • One year of post–high school education in social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • One year of general work experience OR an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Self-identified lived experience in recovery or related relationships.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of Peer Support Training through Utah DSAMH (preferred, not required).
  • Ability to problem-solve and maintain a client-centered approach.
  • Spanish speakers may qualify for increased wages after testing.

Join Wasatch Behavioral Health as a Full-Time Peer Support Specialist and earn $17.50-$23.31/hour while making a meaningful difference in the lives of young women ages 12-18. In our Aspire Program, you'll work directly with youth at our Orem facility, using your lived experience and recovery journey to provide encouragement, connection, and hope. You'll help teens develop coping skills, navigate challenges, and build confidence as they work toward healing and personal growth. What You'll Do as a Peer Support Specialist
  • Build supportive, trusting relationships with young women receiving services in the Aspire Program.
  • Share personal recovery experiences in a thoughtful and professional way to inspire hope and resilience.
  • Encourage and coach youth as they develop healthy coping skills and work toward personal goals.
  • Provide one-on-one peer support during challenging moments, helping clients navigate setbacks and celebrate successes.
  • Facilitate conversations and activities that promote emotional wellness, self-esteem, and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and other team members to support each client's treatment and recovery journey.
  • Model positive communication, problem-solving, and recovery-focused behaviors.
  • Document services and interactions according to agency standards.
  • Create a welcoming, supportive environment where every young person feels seen, heard, and valued.
  • Help youth recognize their strengths and build confidence in their ability to succeed both during and after treatment.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet ONE of the following options:

Option 1:

  • One year of post–high school education in social work, psychology, or a related field
  • One year of general work experience OR an equivalent mix of related education and experience

Option 2:

  • Self-identified lived experience in one of the following areas:
    • An individual in recovery from a mental health and/or substance use disorder
    • A parent of a child with a behavioral health disorder
    • An adult with an ongoing supportive relationship with someone experiencing a behavioral health disorder

Additional Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of Peer Support Training through Utah DSAMH (preferred, not required)
  • Ability to problem-solve and maintain a client-centered approach
  • Spanish speakers may qualify for increased wages after testing

Employment at Wasatch Behavioral Health is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen, motor vehicle record review and criminal background check. After hire you must complete and receive a Criminal Background Clearance (BCI) from Utah State Office of Licensing. Upon receipt of a conditional offer of employment in the position, you must provide an official copy of licensure or certification.
