About the ORCA Program

The ORCA Center provides low‑barrier, evidence‑based care for individuals recovering from opioid overdose or seeking treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD). It offers sub‑acute stabilization, walk‑in access to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), and field‑based MOUD care through the ORCA POD.

Job Description

The Peer Supervisor coordinates a multidisciplinary team delivering outreach and office‑based MOUD services at the ORCA Center, PSC sites, shelters, and other specified locations. This role includes supervising three peer specialists and fostering a culture that values clients’ perspectives and lived experience.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Supervisory
  • Coordinate work of Peer Specialists conducting outreach to clients throughout the greater Seattle area
  • Participate in and conduct clinical supervision meetings, program meetings, and in‑service training for Peer Specialists
  • Assess staff strengths and training needs, provide supervision, performance feedback, clinical consultation, and ensure completion of required training
  • Facilitate team meetings that promote contributions in members’ areas of strength and foster team cohesion
  • Coordinate and schedule all aspects of Peer services, including staffing coverage, time‑sheet authorization, and payroll submission
  • Guide and participate in suitable screening and assessment activities to target resources efficiently
  • Ensure clinical documentation is current, complete, and compliant with agency, ORCA, and funding requirements
  • Provide individual supervision and consultation to assigned team members
  • Build and maintain cooperative relationships with external human‑service organizations and programs that support our client population
  • Screen and assess referrals for program eligibility and coordinate with other ORCA staff on engagement efforts
  • Stay informed on contracting and agreement details; ensure staff awareness
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and program evaluation activities
  • Comply with agency policies, Washington Administrative Code, and King County Mental Health Division policies
  • Participate in program evaluation activities
Direct Service
  • Provide clinical outreach and Peer Specialist services to a partial caseload
  • Identify individuals in need, screen for appropriateness, develop rapport and trust, and provide basic support for those suspected of having OUD
  • Assist in connecting clients to MOUD and other treatment services; track connection outcomes
  • Integrate personal experience with mental illness and substance use disorders into client work
  • Help participants confront stigma and discrimination; develop strategies to reduce self‑stigma and team‑wide stigma
  • Provide opioid‑use consultation and training to Clinical, Housing, and other program staff
  • Advocate for client access to community resources; collaborate with providers to ensure continuity of care
  • Assist consumers in articulating goals through Goal Plans, Crisis Plans, WRAP, and other recovery preference tools
  • Participate in de‑escalation and, when necessary, physical interventions to maintain safety
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications

Applicants must have experience as a Peer Specialist, preferably with supervisory or leadership experience. Experience with opioid use treatment and willingness to share personal insight are essential. Candidates must be a Washington State Certified Peer Specialist with completed Peer Counselor Training. Knowledge of OUD treatment and familiarity with community resources is required.
