Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) are individuals withlivedexperience in behavioral health recovery who are certified by the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) to provide peer support services. CPSSs use their lived experience to support others in finding their own path to wellness and recovery. They provide non-clinical, person-centered support in alignment with DOH guidelines, emphasizing mutuality, empowerment, and recovery-oriented systems of care.
The CPSS Supervisor –Clinicisresponsible forthe direct supervision, support, and professional development of Certified Peer Support Specialists providing behavioral health peer services in a clinic-based setting. This role ensures compliance with all Washington State Department of Health (DOH) requirements and integrates peer support services into the broader interdisciplinary care team.
TheCertified PeerSupportSpecialistSupervisor provides leadership, mentorship, and operational oversight to a team ofCertified PeerSupportSpecialistsand Trainees. This role ensures fidelity to the recovery model, protects against "peer drift," and acts as a bridge between peer staff and clinical or administrative leadership.
