Job summary

Eliot Community Human Services in Lynn, MA is seeking a Peer Specialist to join the Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT). The role uses lived experience to support adults with mental illness, fosters autonomy, and promotes recovery within a collaborative team.

The position offers shift coverage Monday–Friday 8am–4pm with one rotating weekend, and an hourly rate of $23.08. This is a compassionate, mission-driven opportunity with strong growth potential in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be either receiving services or received services in the past from the mental health system and have self-knowledge to manage their mental illness and be well along in their recovery.
  • Experience with mental health and treatment. Empathetic and motivated to improve the lives of adults with mental illnesses.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer counseling and support drawing on their own experiences to validate consumers’ experiences.
  • Empower individuals to exercise autonomy in all aspects of their life.
  • Assist clients with identifying choices and developing skills in self-advocacy.
  • Provide guidance in the recovery process and advocacy during intake and transition processes.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure the individual’s perspective is included and choices are maximized.
  • Utilize a team-based approach to support and services and participate in daily meetings.

Eliot is seeking a strong, experienced Peer Specialist to join our Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) team. PACT is an evidence-based model that provides comprehensive treatment, rehabilitation, and support to adults with severe and persistent mental illness.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong support skills, experience with mental health and treatment, empathetic, and motivated to improve the lives of adults with mental illnesses. An ability to develop lasting relationships with the clients we serve by drawing on your own mental health experience is a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide peer counseling and support drawing on their own experiences to validate consumers’ experiences.
  • Empower individuals to exercise autonomy in all aspects of their life.
  • Assist clients with identifying choices and developing skills in self-advocacy.
  • Provide guidance in the recovery process. Provide advocacy, support, and education during intake and transition processes across the spectrum of services and transition to independence. Assist clients with being able to identify personal methods of recovery from mental illness and to develop self-management plans to address their experiences.
  • Promote hope and empowerment through meetings and support. Collaborate with the team to ensure that the individual’s perspective is always included, that preferences are recognized and that choices are maximized.
  • Utilize a team based approach to support and services, collaborating with colleagues and actively participating in daily meetings.
  • Ensure that services are culturally competent, strengths based, recovery based, focused on rehabilitation and are inclusive of Person preferences. Ensure that the Person is at the center of all care and that all interventions are developed and provided in a manner consistent with Person preferences.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with mental health and treatment. Empathetic and motivated to improve the lives of adults with mental illnesses. Driven and able to develop lasting relationships with both the people by drawing on their own mental health experiences.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a standing 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. shift one day a week, rotating weekends

Hourly Rate

$23.08 - $23.08 USD
