Job summary

Cornerstone Montgomery seeks a Peer Support Specialist to join the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. You will work with adults living with mental health and co-occurring disorders to help them live, work, and engage with the community.

Responsibilities include client-centered case management, psychiatric rehabilitation, life skills coaching, crisis intervention, and supporting medication adherence. A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are required.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Personal history as consumer of behavioral health services encouraged.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide client-centered case management and psychiatric rehabilitation services for ACT clients.
  • Act as a positive role model; provide life skills training and health management.
  • Deliver crisis intervention and support medication adherence.

As the largest outpatient behavioral health agency in Montgomery County, we offer years of evidence based treatment experience to our consumers and practical training to our staff. Our robust training program allows staff members to develop and grow in the position and provides the basis for upward mobility within the agency.Responsibilities of the Peer Support Specialist with the ACT TeamProvide client-centered case management & psychiatric rehabilitation services to clients of the ACT teamAct as a positive role model for individualsProvide life skills training, behavior management, health management, crisis intervention, and support to clients to take medication as prescribedMaintain a caseload, attend client meetings on time & prepared, and complete all documentation in a timely fashionAssociates Degree-Bachelor’s Degree preferred1-2 years experience working with adults diagnosed with mental health and/or co-occurring substance use disorders preferred. Personal History as Consumer of Behavioral Health Services.Possession of a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record (as determined by HR) required. Must have access to a personal vehicle and be willing to use it for work purposes.
