Job summary

Colonial Behavioral Health in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a full-time Peer Recovery Specialist for our Permanent Supportive Housing program. You will provide peer support to advance recovery, self-direction, and housing permanence for PSH participants.

You will facilitate wellness strategies, mentor participants in community integration, coordinate with PSH staff, and assist with connecting clients to social, recreational, spiritual, volunteer, educational, or vocational resources.

Qualifications

• Ability to positively interact with persons with mental illness, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities, their family members and community members.
• Good personal management skills – time management, organization, dependability and independence.
• Provide active listening, education and assistive supports to consumers and family members.

Responsibilities

• Support housing permanence of PSH participants by promoting recovery and self-direction.
• Facilitate wellness management and recovery strategies toward personal recovery goals and housing permanence.
• Mentor community integration by providing connections to social, recreational, spiritual, volunteer, educational or vocational resources.
• Coordinate with PSH program staff to ensure access to services and resources.
