Job summary

Richmond Behavioral Health Authority in Richmond, VA, is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery-based mentorship and emotional support within the Women’s Residential Treatment program. This role uses lived experience to engage clients, navigate resources, and promote wellness.

The position covers day, evening, or overnight shifts, with options for full-time, part-time, or PRN. Training and supervision are provided to operate under our clinical team and protect client

Qualifications

• Lived experience in recovery from mental health or substance use challenges.
• 1+ years of experience in peer support, behavioral health, or human services.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Engage with individuals to offer emotional support and share lived experience in recovery.
• Facilitate peer-led groups and contribute to discussions that promote wellness and empowerment.
• Assist clients in identifying personal goals and navigating recovery resources.
• Provide appointment reminders and support with scheduling and transportation coordination.
• Document peer interactions and group sessions in electronic health records.
• Collaborate with certified peer recovery specialists and clinical teams.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to agency policies and ethical standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
