Boulder Care is hiring a Peer Recovery Specialist for a 100% remote, full-time position.
We Are Looking For Individuals Who
- Reside in Oregon or Washington State
- Have an active peer certification in Oregon or Washington State
- Have 2 years of experience working in peer support
- Have at least two years of recovery from lived experience in substance use and/or co-occurring mental health disorders (self-attested)
- Are interested in full-time work (40 hours/week) with a Monday-Friday schedule, 9:00am - 6:00pm Pacific Time

We provide virtual, multidisciplinary care including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and ongoing support, aiming to improve lives and reduce barriers to recovery.
About The Role
A Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) uses their experience of recovery and skills learned in formal training to deliver peer-based recovery support services, focusing on improving health, well-being, and quality of life.
Success in this role
Patient Support - 60%
- Engage with patients according to Boulder policies
- Help patients identify barriers and support recovery management
- Assess patient progress and collaborate on recovery plans
- Educate about community resources and Boulder programs
- Facilitate care transitions and escalate crises appropriately
- Provide social/emotional support and maintain follow-up communication
- Report relevant situations per policies and legal requirements
- Advocate for the patient population
Community Resources & Continuing Education - 20%
- Maintain knowledge of community services
- Assist with appointments and referrals
- Participate in ongoing education
Administrative Responsibilities - 20%
- Prioritize self-care and team collaboration
- Attend supervision, meetings, and trainings
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation
Requirements For The Role
- At least 1 year of navigating OUD treatment resources and 2+ years in peer support
- Active peer certification in the state of residence
- Expected to obtain NCPRSS certification within 9 months
- Recovery from lived experience in substance use and/or mental health for at least two years
- Preference for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds or with marginalized experiences
- Trustworthiness, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Ability to leverage local resources
- Excellent communication skills
- Team-oriented and problem-solving skills
- High ethical standards and composure under pressure
- Alignment with Boulder’s core values
Nice To Have But Not Required
- Familiarity with Medicaid billing in Oregon/Washington
Work Environment
- Remote role for residents of Oregon or Washington
- Dedicated private workspace and high-speed internet required
Expected Hours of Work
Full-time, 40 hours/week, Mon-Fri 9:00am-6:00pm PT, with possible schedule adjustments.
Compensation
$24.52 - $28.32/hour, based on experience, with benefits.
