Job summary

CARE of southeastern Michigan seeks a Peer Recovery Coach for Project ASSERT in Mount Clemens, MI. This full-time, hourly position ($19/hr) supports individuals in recovery and connects them to community resources.

As a mentor and resource broker, you’ll provide direct services, handle required paperwork, and refer clients to treatment and recovery services. Evening/weekend hours may be required; prior peer coaching helps, with emphasis on ongoing recovery.

Qualifications

• Must be in long term recovery from a substance use disorder for at least four consecutive years.
• One year of peer coaching or related experience preferred.
• High school Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services to individuals as assigned.
• Ensure assigned paperwork is completed and maintained in accordance with funding source standards and CARE of SEM policy and procedures.
• Demonstrates in practice there are multiple pathways to recovery.
• Facilitate timely referral and placements from hospital to treatment/recovery support providers.
• Documents information for established metrics and outcomes as required.
• Ability to adjust hours of work based on the community needs, including evening and weekends.

Job Summary

A Peer Coach works as a mentor, guide, and resource broker to ensure individuals are receiving and connecting to all resources available within their community. This is a person who has experience receiving services and/or supports for a substance use.

Description of responsibilities

• Ensures assigned paperwork is completed and maintained in accordance with funding source standards and CARE of SEM policy and procedures.

Required experience

• Must be in long term recovery from a substance use disorder for at least four consecutive years.
• One year of peer coaching or related experience preferred.

Required skills / education

• High school Diploma or graduate equivalent degree required
• Must have or be willing to obtain both certifications:
• Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC)
• Certified Peer Recovery Mentor (CPRM) or have an active development plan through MCBAP and timely completion.
• Must have or be willing to obtain certificate of completion of the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) Recovery Coach Academy, including ethics.
