Job summary

The Home for Little Wanderers is seeking compassionate individuals to mentor and support youth across our programs. The role involves in-person mentoring, routine contact, and collaboration with program teams to promote stability and growth for youth and their families.

Shifts include Saturdays and Sundays; training is provided, and a comprehensive benefits package accompanies competitive pay. You will advocate for youth, participate in reviews, and help connect young people with community

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Bilingual preferred to support diverse youth.
• Completion of Core GIFT Training preferred.
• Computer literacy and ability to learn new software.

• Provide individual support through ongoing routine contact to youth.
• In-person mentoring services to youth within home communities and onsite.
• Participate in quarterly treatment reviews and meetings as requested.
• Facilitate peer groups to share strengths and interests aligned with youth.
• Partner with youth through Restorative Practices.
• Assist team in collecting and sharing information about community resources.
• Engage and retain resources identified to support program youth.
• Meet weekly for Supervision.
• Complete required documentation.

About The Program

The transition to adulthood can be difficult to navigate, especially for youth in their late teens or early 20s who have spent most of their lives in state care. The Home recognizes the unique issues that our youth “aging out” of the system face – including homelessness, unemployment, incarceration, early pregnancy and substance abuse—and offers resources and support designed to prepare them for their future as confident, self-sufficient adults in our community.

Saturdays and Sundays are required for this role.

How You Will Be Making a Difference

• Collaborate to provide individual support, through ongoing routine contact to youth
• Provide in-person mentoring services to youth both within their home communities and onsite
• Participate as needed in quarterly treatment reviews and other meetings, as requested by the youth and/or program team
• Facilitate peer groups with the goal of sharing personal strengths and interests that align with those of the program youth population

Requirements

• Personal experience living with significant mental health issues
• Willingness to attend trainings prior to beginning job functions
• Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, and traveling to client home communities
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer with the ability to learn new software applications
