Job summary

ACMH in Manhattan (Washington Heights) seeks a Peer Counselor for Residential Crisis Support (Respite). The role provides supportive counseling, helps guests build daily living skills, and assists with health and safety.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with mental health services is required.
• Good written and verbal communication in English.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive counseling and promote coping skills.
• Assist with daily living activities and residential living skills.
• Monitor guests’ medications and adherence.
• Deliver crisis intervention when necessary.
• Develop wellness plans with guests and lead peer support groups.
• Document services and progress as per agency procedures.
