Job summary

Idaho Falls Community Hospital is seeking a Nurse Assistant to join our team. The role supports nursing staff by performing routine duties under supervision, including patient hygiene, transport, and communication with the care team.

You will assist with unit clerical tasks, stocking, dietary tray distribution, and 1:1 sitter duties as required, while contributing to compassionate, patient-centered care in a 24/7 hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Completion of a certified CNA program within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Aids the unit clerk by routing messages to the correct destination.
• Performs general administrative duties (emails, filing, supplies).
• Stocks patient rooms and carts on a routine basis.
• Assists with patient hygiene under supervision and scope of practice.
• Handles patients safely under nurse/CNA supervision with proper body mechanics.
• Assists with distribution and clearing of dietary trays.
• Transports patients and items as needed.
• Notifies licensed personnel of patient needs or pain.
• Communicates basic needs/info to co-workers, patients, and others.
• Performs 1:1 sitter duties for patient safety as required.

Acts as a tertiary member of the nursing team, which includes the nurse and CNA. Augments basic appropriate nursing duties under supervision of the nurse and CNA. Provides basic communication with the public, various hospital departments, and nursing personnel. Aids the unit clerk, receiving and transmitting messages (personal, telephone, computer) or inquiries to the appropriate destination.2. Performs other general administrative duties as required (e.g., emails, filing, ordering supplies, etc.).3. Performs stocking of patient rooms and specialty carts or areas on a routine basis.4. Ensures that patient daily hygiene needs are met (i.e., bathing, brushing teeth, changing of bed linen, etc.) that are appropriate under their scope of practice and under the direct supervision of the bedside nurse or CNA.5. Demonstrates ability to handle patients safely under direct supervision of a nurse and utilizes proper body mechanics and techniques6. Assists with distribution and clearing of dietary trays.7. Transports appropriate patients and other appropriate items as needed.8. Notifies appropriate licensed personnel with patient complaints of needs/pain.9. Demonstrates ability to communicate basic needs/information to co-workers, patients, and other individuals.10.
