Overview

The Division of Rheumatology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington invites applications for a Clinical Practice faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Professor of Clinical Practice. The appointment is a twelve‑month, full‑time, 3‑year term starting July 2026, renewable thereafter. The faculty member will serve in a physician informaticist (PI) role while also providing pediatric rheumatology clinical care.

Responsibilities

• Provide pediatric rheumatology clinical care (outpatient, inpatient, outreach, immunosuppressive medication management, intraarticular aspirations/injections) for 30% of time.
• Engage in teaching, mentoring, and scholarly activities for 10% of time.
• Serve as a physician informaticist for 60% of time, leading the enhancement of clinical information systems to improve patient outcomes, clinician well‑being, operational efficiency, and patient safety.
• Collaborate with clinical, IT, and administrative teams to identify, prioritize, and implement informatics projects such as order entry, clinical documentation, decision support, patient access, scheduling, AI, and digital health.
• Design, plan, and implement systems enhancements; coordinate training and user adoption; communicate with clinicians and division leaders to provide feedback and address concerns.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and demonstrate knowledge of evidence‑based medical and informatics principles.

Qualifications

• MD, DO, or MD/DO (or foreign equivalent).
• Board‑certified in Pediatric Rheumatology.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a physician in Washington state.
• Eligible to be credentialed at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
• Foreign‑trained candidates must have completed all three steps of the USMLE or equivalent.
• Experience with Epic Systems EHR, informatics leadership (e.g., Associate Chief Medical Information Officer), continuous improvement, AI tool implementation, and system redesign with successful deployment.
• Demonstrated leadership as a team member in complex settings and ability to manage, engage, develop, and direct staff.
• Published informatics‑related articles in peer‑reviewed journals (preferred).

Benefits

Faculty receive base salary by rank (Assistant: $12 079–$18 119/month; Associate: $18 246–$21 896/month; Professor: $17 844–$26 766/month) and may receive additional incentive compensation from the Children’s University Medical Group practice plan. University benefits include health, dental, vision, retirement, and other standard faculty benefits.
