Child Abuse Physician Child Abuse Intervention Department (CAID)
Position Type: Full-Time; Will consider Locum, Locum to Perm or Perm
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Child Abuse Physician to join our Child Abuse Intervention Department (CAID). The ideal candidate will provide expert consultation and clinical guidance in cases involving suspected child abuse. This role includes collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including nurse practitioners, social workers, and other child abuse experts, to deliver high-quality evaluations and support.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert consultation to healthcare providers, social services, and law enforcement regarding suspected child abuse and neglect.
Offer inpatient support, including Emergency Room, Inpatient Services, and Trauma cases related to abuse.
Review medical records, imaging, and documentation to assess cases and recommend next steps.
Supervise Child Abuse Nurse Practitioners and contribute to their professional development.
Lead education initiatives for healthcare providers to improve identification, documentation, and management of child abuse cases.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives within CAID.
Qualifications:
MD/DO with board certification in Pediatrics (subspecialty training in Child Abuse Pediatrics preferred).
Licensed to practice medicine in Washington.
Experience in Child Abuse Pediatrics with strong knowledge of child protection protocols, trauma-informed care, and legal processes.
Board Certification in Child Abuse Pediatrics is highly preferred but not required.
Patient Volume:
4 5 inpatients per month
clinic patients per month
1 2 Emergency Department patients per day
Possible weekend call coverage (cost and structure to be determined)
Job Type:
Open to Locums-to-Perm or permanent positions.
Minimum experience required, must have Child Abuse-specific experience (Psychiatric experience alone is not sufficient).
