Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina's Pediatrics Department seeks an experienced HR Manager to lead all human resources activities across clinical, research, and education missions. This senior role reports to the Vice Chair for Finance & Administration and serves on the Chairman’s Office leadership team.

You will drive personnel actions, employee relations, data management, faculty affairs, timekeeping, and engagement initiatives for 500+ staff and 200+ faculty, ensuring policy compliance

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a high school diploma and five years of relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in business management, public administration or administrative services.
• Experience leading personnel actions, payroll, recruitment, onboarding and visa coordination for international employees.
• Experience advising on conflict resolution and policy compliance within a university or large organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead personnel actions (hiring, termination, payroll, visa support) and manage faculty onboarding and documentation.
• Direct employee relations, coaching, performance management, engagement, and policy guidance.
• Oversee departmental data management, HR records, and onboarding tools.
• Manage engagement and communications for 500+ employees and raise external visibility.
• Supervise timekeeping, leave reporting, and system changes affecting policy updates.
• Oversee Faculty Affairs for 200+ paid faculty and coordinate with College Faculty Affairs.
• Administer employee performance evaluation tools and recognition programs; ensure compliance with COI and policies.
• Coordinate annual Employee Engagement Survey and improvement plans.
• Other duties as assigned.
