Job summary

The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist - Vent Specialist to coordinate care for pediatric long-term ventilator patients and support families after discharge.

You will work with physicians and nursing staff to educate families, arrange home health services, and ensure a smooth transition to home care with ongoing clinical follow-up. This full-time position requires strong teamwork and adherence to safety and documentation standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree plus one year of related experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Licenses and certifications required: MS State Board Respiratory Therapy license, ACLS, PALS or NRP; NBRC registration.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties and responsibilities listed for a registered respiratory therapist.
• Provides patient and family education specific to ventilator operation and airway management for the ventilated pediatric patient.
• Develops and implements an individualized plan of action and discharge criteria.
• Communicates with home health providers to ensure the home environment support after discharge.
• Participates in the office visit follow-up after discharge.
• Prepares and maintains records of all education materials.
• Communicates and coordinates with UHC case management equipment needs and supplies to insurers.
