Job summary

AdaptHealth is seeking a Respiratory Therapist – Ventilator Support to deliver specialized respiratory care to ventilator-dependent patients in home and alternate care settings. You will combine hands-on patient care, education, and collaboration with physicians and care teams to support safe, high-quality outcomes outside the hospital.

Qualifications

• Associates degree from an AMA-approved respiratory program.
• One year of clinical experience with ventilator exposure.
• Valid and unrestricted Respiratory Therapist license in all states served by the branch.
• CPR certification.
• Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and apply advanced knowledge of respiratory equipment, ventilators, HME products, and related guidelines.
• Perform clinical assessments and reassessments, including review of ventilator patient records and care plans.
• Participate in discharge planning and ensure smooth transitions to home settings.
• Demonstrate and instruct patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on ventilator units and supplies.
• Provide clinical follow up with physicians and referral sources.
• Conduct in-services on equipment and clinically related topics.
• Adhere to HIPAA, PPE, infection control, and hazardous materials handling requirements.
• Document all patient care activities and outcomes accurately in company systems.
• Maintain up-to-date patient records including plans of care and prescriptions.
• Ensure documentation supports quality tracking, data trends, and regulatory compliance.
• Utilize continuing education to maintain competencies and expand role.
• Collaborate with peers and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
