The Physician is primarily responsible for obtaining detailed medical histories, comprehensive physical exams, and developing a treatment plan of care with considerable independence. The Physician will provide competent, age-appropriate care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehensive Patient Care: Conduct thorough physical assessments using clinical techniques such as observation, auscultation, palpation, and percussion. Coordinate and implement personalized medical care plans for patients.
- Patient History and Evaluation: Gather and assess detailed health and developmental histories, using both in-person consultations and telemedicine technologies.
- Patient Management & Communication: Facilitate efficient patient flow and ensure clear communication with patients, families, and team members. Handle concerns and problem-solving with empathy and professionalism.
- Mentorship & Collaboration: Serve as a role model for staff by exemplifying professionalism and fostering a supportive, team-oriented environment. Encourage engagement in facility improvement and team-building initiatives.
- Compliance & Best Practices: Execute all clinical procedures, policies, and treatment protocols in alignment with legal, ethical, and facility standards.
- Treatment & Follow-Up: Safely administer medications and treatments as prescribed, and conduct timely follow-ups on lab results and imaging studies to ensure continuity of care.
- Community Resource Identification: Connect patients with relevant community health resources and services to support their overall health journey.
- Standards & Patient Dignity: Uphold patient rights and dignity, practicing positive peer and patient relations and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- On-Site & Physical Demands: Must be available to perform in-clinic responsibilities as required. Position involves physical tasks including walking, standing, lifting (over 50 lbs), and occasional CPR, with shifts that may extend into evenings, weekends, or holidays based on patient needs.
- Sensory Requirements: Adequate vision, hearing, speech, and touch are essential for accurate patient assessments, monitoring equipment, and effective communication with patients and staff.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent bedside manner with a patient-centered approach.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient with digital health records and telemedicine tools; able to execute diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (e.g., suturing, abscess I&D, foreign body removal).
- Clinical Decision-Making: Ability to differentiate between normal and abnormal findings and make prompt, informed medical decisions.
Required Education & Experience:
- Medical Training: Graduate of an accredited Medical Physician program.
- Licensing & Certification: Valid Virginia Medical License, DEA License, and current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Specialty Experience: Experience in Pediatrics and/or Urgent Care settings is essential; prior experience in emergency care is highly preferred.
Hours of Operation:
- Monday-Thursday: 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM
- Friday: 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM
- Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
