Job summary

Pomelo Care, a leading virtual pediatric and women's health practice, is hiring a full-time Pediatric Nurse for three 12-hour shifts per week, with weekend and holiday rotations. You will triage urgent pediatric concerns via chat, phone, and video, and collaborate with a Nurse Lead to optimize care pathways.

Qualifications

• RN with BSN and unrestricted multi-state license (compact).
• 3+ years in outpatient pediatric primary care, urgent care, or pediatric ER.
• Experience delivering virtual, phone, or in-person pediatric triage.
• Willing to travel occasionally.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.
• Understand birth inequity and maternal/infant health.
• Professional engagement and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assess urgent pediatric concerns and triage to Pomelo Care and/or emergency services.
• Follow evidence-based clinical protocols in triage of pediatric patients.
• Ongoing clinical and psychosocial assessment of new pediatric patients.
• Identify and addressing barriers to care identified by patients/care team.
• Reduce care gaps by frequent engagements with patients.
• Educate patients on equipment for remote infant health monitoring.
• Timely documentation of all care/interactions and escalation as needed.
• Support development of programs/products by providing user feedback.

Key responsibilities of the role

Your North Star: Provide and facilitate amazing patient-centered clinical care to our pediatric patients.

We are currently hiring for the following FT shift: This position consists of three 12-hour shifts per week. Participation in weekend and holiday rotations is required.

Reporting to a Nurse Lead, your key responsibilities will include:

• Assessment of urgent pediatric concerns and proactively triaging patients to support appropriate utilization of Pomelo Care and/or emergency services. Triages may be conducted in multiple modalities including chat/SMS-based, telephone, and video visits.

• Following evidence-based clinical protocols in the assessment and triage of pediatric patients

• Ongoing clinical and psychosocial assessment of new pediatric patients, providing reassurance and building rapport

• Identifying and addressing barriers to care that have been identified by patients and/or the care team.

• Reducing care gaps (missed appointments, medication management, etc.) by frequent engagements with patient

• Assessing the need for and educating patients on the equipment they will use to monitor their infants’ health remotely

• Ongoing surveillance and timely response to abnormal diagnostic results (labs, radiology, etc.)

• Timely documentation of all care/interactions and escalating to appropriate multidisciplinary teams, as needed

• Supporting the development of programs and product by providing user feedback

Who you are

• Registered Nurse, BSN prepared, current unrestricted multi-state (compact) license

• Have 3+ years experience in an outpatient pediatric primary care practice, pediatric urgent care, or pediatric emergency room

• Experience providing virtual, phone or in-person pediatric triage care

• Flexible and agile thinker who embraces change

• Are internet-connected, able to work remotely via video, phone and text

• Willing to travel occasionally (infrequent)

• Willing to work weekends and holidays

• Understand the prevalence and role that birth inequity and structural racism plays in maternal and infant morbidity and mortality

• Professionally engaged

Bonus points if you have any of the following

• 2+ years of outpatient pediatric care experience

• 1+ years of virtual or phone pediatric triage experience

• Certification as a CLC or an IBCLC

• Certification as a Sleep Consultant

• Experience providing care in Spanish

Compensation:

The expected base salary range offered for this role is $78,000-$83,000. This role is also eligible for equity, giving you an ownership stake in Pomelo’s mission. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, competencies, and certifications.
