Job summary

OHSU's Doernbecher Children's Hospital seeks a Surgical Technologist to provide intra-operative support in the pediatric operating room. You will assist surgeons, scrub and maintain sterile technique, and collaborate with nurses and surgical teams to ensure patient safety during procedures.

Position requires BLS within 30 days of hire and NBSTSA certification, with preference for pediatric experience and a strong commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days of hire or prior to independent practice.
• New Employees as of 9/1/2015 must graduate from a nationally-accredited organization approved by the Oregon Health Authority and hold NBSTSA Surgical Technologist Certification.
• HB 4106 amendments require additional credentials or military training with ongoing CEU requirements.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure.
• Scrubs, gowns, & gloves; sets up sterile table with instruments and supplies.
• Performs counts with circulator per policy; gowns/gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Maintains sterile technique; passes instruments to surgeon/assistant.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans instruments for terminal sterilization.
