Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, TX is seeking a Surgical Technologist II to support the operating room team. The role requires completion of an approved surgical technology program, CST-SUR certification, NCCT-TECH certification, and at least 2 years of experience in two or more surgical specialties.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of an educational program for surgical technologists (military training accepted)
• CST-SUR certification by NBSTSA and NCCT certification by NCCT required
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a surgical technologist across two or more specialties

Responsibilities

• Assist with instrument, supply, and equipment management during surgery as directed by the circulating nurse
• Prepare operating room and assist with patient care duties for age-appropriate procedures
• Maintain counts of sponges, needles, and instruments per policy 100% of the time
• Label and handle specimens as required
• Support patient safety with proper handling of medications inside sterile field
• Attend in-services and continuing education for professional development
• Cares for Neonates to Adult patients across age groups as applicable
