Job summary

Qualifications

• Required Educational program completion for surgical technologists, which may include operating room/surgical training.
• CST-SUR - Cert-Cert Surgical TECH by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting and TSC-NCCT - Cert-TECH Surgery - Certified NCCT by the National Center for Competency Testing.
• Required 2 years' experience as a surgical technologist and experience in two or more surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care related duties.
• Prepares and assists with the preparation of the operating room according to the needs and age appropriateness of the patient and the surgical procedure.
• Applies knowledge of surgical procedure by anticipating the surgeon's needs and ensuring supplies are available.
• Attends and participates in in-services and other continuing education opportunities.
• Maintains correct count of sponges, needles, and instruments according to policy.
• Assists in the care and labeling of specimens.
• Ensures safe handling of medications within the sterile field.
• Prepares OR equipment and supplies while performing patient care-related duties.
• Demonstrates time management skills.
• Cares for Neonates, Infants, Toddlers, Preschoolers, School Age, Adolescents, and Adults.
