Job summary

Cook Children's Health Care System is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for the Prosper Medical Center. You will assist surgeons and the perioperative team in a pediatric setting, maintaining sterile technique, preparing the OR, and ensuring instruments are ready throughout procedures.

Ideal candidates have an accredited Surgical Technology program, CST or TS-C certification, and BLS. On-call shifts and relocation considerations may apply to serve our pediatric patients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completed accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Certification: CST (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) before employment.
• BLS certification required by American Heart Association.
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and operating room procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms with instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies.
• Maintain a sterile field throughout procedures.
• Anticipate surgeon needs by passing instruments efficiently.
• Perform surgical counts according to protocols.
• Assist with patient positioning, specimen handling, and room turnover.
• Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment safely.
• Support patient safety and infection prevention standards.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and surgical team.
